Role of Education Policy Making: Exploring the outcome of PhD’s Experiences in Pakistan Part 1

Importance of education has always been acknowledged worldwide. Government agencies and Policy makers must play their role to bring higher education and research at top. The basic objective is to improve the socio economic conditions of the people. So the higher education becomes necessary for a developing nation. The sciences which improve the living standard of the people are Economics, Natural Sciences, and Management Sciences etc. The Higher Education Commission is playing its part to improve Human Resources the country.

The present education system of Pakistan is not meeting with the exact senses of the word “Education”. Today there is a need to develop the strategies to tackle the problems of human development in the country. For this purpose we can look in to the education policy. If the education policy is fine; even then a system is not improving is there any problem in implementation of the policy? Next if the education policy is properly implemented; Are the products (PhDs) produced are effectively and efficiently utilized? It is the issue of concern.

Research has never been the strong suit of Pakistani universities for the past 60 years. There are a small number of researches in a variety of disciplines but the universities could not change a system to develop research culture in the institutions of higher education in Pakistan. Lack of resources, basic equipment, little supply of scientific material to laboratories, lack of administrative and financial support, little incentives for researchers and unavailability of scientific literature are some of the major problems for anyone interested in research of Pakistan. There has been no connection between the industry and the research institutions/organizations to encourage scientific research. In most cases the lack of financial support is the major problem. In the absence of such support the researchers and particularly the young scientists leave Pakistan for abroad to complete their research projects

The complexity with the current policy is the same as earlier policies is that it makes the usual mistake of assuming that demand for the practical education being offered exists and is strong. The only reason that educational targets are not being met is the lack of research source, and good schooling. Ordering non-market related curricula, make research and technology awareness education compulsory is all that is required.

why in Pakistan doesn't have research culture, ku ke hmary haan schools level par he educators ko rataa lagvaea jata hy un main research based learning ka koe concept nahe dia jata. kisi be nation k students base mazboot nahe ho ge to to agy chal ke kaisy research kr sakty hain. ik simple sa question hy Pakistan cricket team main world class players kahaan se aaty hain kaheen bhahar se to training ly kar to nahe aty , inheen tangh galeeun maain he cricket khailty hain aur waheen se un main talent paida hota hy , aur isi ke main wajah b yeh hy humary haain cricket culture grass root level se shuru hota hy aur is waja se world class cricketer paida hoty hain... so agar hamin science and technology main kuch karna hy to grass root level par kaam karna ho ga.
